The Battle For The Capital 2 takes place this Sunday as the London Blitz take on the London Cobras at Boston Manor in West London.

The Blitz are now 9-0 domestically and have an opportunity for a perfect season with a strong performance against cross town rivals.

The Cobras have performed extremely well in their inaugural season in the BAFACL Premier Division, qualifying for the play-offs and winning five of their nine games so far including a three game winning streak, having beaten perennial contenders the Coventry Jets, the Farnham Knights and fellow play-off contenders the Bristol Aztecs.

After the victory over the Farnham Knights, Blitz Head Coach Mark Moss said that his team would need to bring their A game for their clash against the Cobras, as he felt they were a much improved team since their encounter earlier this season, where the Blitz won 14-7.

Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm.

The London Blitz American Football Club extended their record to 9-0 for the season when they defeated the Farnham Knights 44-0.

After the kick-off the Blitz offense took to the field with plenty of energy and enthusiasm and successfully marched downfield; deftly mixing up the run and the pass keeping the Knights defense off balance. The Blitz offense capped the drive when rookie running back Serge Bly ran the ball into the end zone from 14 yards out for the game's first score.

The Blitz defense took to the field with great intensity and made short work of the Knights offense, forcing them to punt that returner Clive Palumbo returned to the 12 yard line. The Blitz offense went back to their game plan of mixing up the run and the pass to march downfield. Running backs Gareth Dauley, Oliver Hypolite-Bishop, and Deji Alli all made significant gains on the ground, before quarterback Fred Boyle took to the air to cap the drive off, finding veteran wide receiver Palumbo in the end zone. Kicker Ed Morgan added the point after to give the Blitz an early 14 point lead.

In the early days of Britball, we had monthly magazines "Quarterback" and "Receiver" which carried a fair amount of news and articles concerning Britball but unfortunately, they were short lived. The weekly paper "First Down" started at about the same time and carried on for a further 20 years before that too folded although for many, it carried far too little coverage of Britball.

What our game has been crying out for since the beginning is a publication devoted to Britball. Our old sparing partners from the Invicta Eagles came up with "It's Good" back in the mid nineties. This was an excellent magazine but in the days before widespread use of the internet, the logistics of advertising the magazine and collecting articles was difficult and the publication soon ceased publication.

There are two on-line magazines: "Britball Now" and "Flag on the Play". Britball Now has been around for well over a decade. It carries news articles but is best for its extensive historical content. Flag on the Play is in its second season. This has some interesting articles although some have not changed since the web site was launched and there is up to date news, game results and game reports although for most of the interesting data but strangely it is necessary to log on to view game results and reports. As you would expect, both of these have the look and feel of a web site.

Inside American Football is the new kid on the block but it is very different from the others with the look and feel of a glossy magazine but without the advertisements and it is FREE being either read on-line or can be downloaded as a PDF file. Each edition is full of articles on all aspects of Britball. The editorial staff have received tremendous support from the Britball community who have pulled together to produce some very interesting articles. If they can keep this up, they are on to a sure winner.

Issue one includes an article on the birth of BAFACA by Nick Rockell, the league Co-ordinator and one of the London Blitz Senior Team coaches (the latest) has great articles by Danh on our Euro campaign and Coach Henry on the history and current status of our Youth programme.

There are too many other interesting articles to list here. Your best bet is to look for yourself by clicking here or via the links tab above.
